Generous foodies have helped raise £3,295 by enjoying a five-course tasting menu created by renowned local chef Adam Purnell.

Barbecue king Adam, who owns Embers Cafe in Coalbrookdale, put together a delicious flame-grilled menu with a Tex Mex vibe for diners at the sell-out event. The mouth-watering evening was part of Hope House’s Let’s Do Dinner campaign.

Guests for the evening included families who use Hope House. Parents of 11-month-old George attended with George, while three-year-old Freya’s parents enjoyed their first night out together since Freya was born.

Adam is a self-taught, local chef, from Coalbrookdale, who won Heston Blumenthal’s show ‘Crazy Delicious’ on Netflix and Channel 4. He’s had a guest slot on Nadia Hussein’s show ‘Fast Flavour’ and more recently, was a critic on MasterChef the Professionals.

Parents Ben and Georgie enjoyed their first night out together in three years, while Natalie and Mark came with baby George.

Adam has now established a national reputation as a live fire chef. He is a regular face at local and national food events and festivals including Shrewsbury Food Festival, Camp Bestival, Burwarton Show and chef Tom Kerridge’s Pub in the Park.

Money was raised through ticket sales with additional funds coming from a cocktail sweepstake and raffle.

Fundraiser Dawn Ball said: “Adam was kindly supported by suppliers Morgan’s Butchers and Corbetts of Shrewsbury Market, who supplied some of the meat. Adam and his partner Tess very generously covered the rest of the costs.”

She added: “The team were brilliant and didn’t stop all night. The food was incredible and it was such a lovely atmosphere. Thank you so much to everyone who attended and to Adam and his team for their generosity, hard work and sensational food.”
