Donation Guidelines We're incredibly grateful for your support and the generous donations we receive. To keep our shops safe and compliant with UK regulations, there are some items that we sadly cannot accept. Please take a moment to check the list below before bringing in your donation. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us make the most of every donation. Donated furniture and homeware • upholstered donated furniture without a fire label (unless pre-1950s) • donated furniture with unsafe missing parts or damage • furniture with glass that does not have a kite mark or tempered glass • used candles or homemade candles without instructions • duvets and pillows (unless sealed in original packaging) • mattresses • roller or venetian blinds (unless in original packaging with safety instructions included) Safety equipment • Safety headgear e.g. all types of helmets and visors • climbing equipment • buoyancy aids, life jackets and inflatable dinghies • any mobility equipment e.g. mobility scooters, zimmer frames, bath aids or hospital beds Sports equipment • rowing machines • running machines • cross trainers • ice skates • E-scooters Electrical items • laptops, mobile phones, personal computers, and tablets - we can’t ensure they are wiped of personal data • electric blankets • tanning equipment • donated white goods - e.g. fridges, freezers or washing machines • microwaves • personal hygiene items - e.g. shavers and foot spas • printers – unless new and unopened • halogen and blow heaters • used ceiling and wall lights Media • recordings made at home for personal use, whether CDs, DVDs, videos or cassettes • bootlegs (usually a live recording or studio outtakes, which has not been issued by the record company) Children’s items • cot bumpers, cot mattresses, pram mattresses • children’s pillows • cribs, cradles, and reclined cradles • carrycots • highchairs • table-mounted chairs • playpens, baby baths, baby door bouncers, baby walkers • all inflatable armbands and rings worn as flotation aids • toys without a CE/UKCA mark • skateboards, roller skates and scooters – at managers discretion • clothing with hood cords • car seats, booster seats and seat belts • potties • breast pumps • nappy bins • child seats for bicycles • Used Play Doh/plasticine Sharps or weapons • sharp knives (excluding cutlery) • swords (including replicas) • Crossbows, bows and arrows or catapults • guns or realistic replica toy guns • ammunition • sharp gardening and hand tools • any other weapons. Please contact your local police station about disposing of any weapons. Other items we cannot accept include • adult graphic content • alcoholic beverages (including homemade wine) • angora wool products • batteries (even if in original, sealed packaging) • Books, CDs and DVDs given away free from magazines/newspapers which are marked ‘not for resale’ • CBD oil products (even if in original, sealed packaging) • Chinese lanterns • cosmetics and toiletries; including hair dye and nail varnish (even if used or open) • counterfeit/fake goods • crocodile, alligator, snakeskin and turtle or tortoiseshell products • dentures • fireworks, sparklers, lighters (even if in original, sealed packaging) or anything with an explosive device • cigarettes/tobacco products, including lighters • dentures • e-cigarettes and reusable vapes • chemical items • gas or petrol appliances e.g. gas cookers, heaters or those designed to operate on bottled gas • gas masks • gardening hand tools • grossly offensive and/or discriminatory material • hazardous or flammable substances, e.g. glue, fireworks, aerosols, methylated spirits, chemicals, mercury thermometers • homemade food or drink • hot water bottles • jewellery made from seeds or beans • medicines or medications • military, police, and any company branded uniforms • paint (including aerosol paint) - this does not apply to artist’s paints, which we can sell • Prescription glasses Ivory and fur We do not sell or take donations of ivory or real fur Single Use Plastic Single Use Plastics - Includes plastic plates, plastic cutlery, plastic drink stirrers, cups made of expanded or foamed extruded polystyrene, takeaway food containers made of expanded foamed extruded polystyrene, plastic balloon sticks, plastic-stemmed cotton buds and plastic drinking straws.
