We have benefitted from over £50,000 in fundraising thanks to kind-hearted gamers, Tik Tokers and Youtubers.

Organised by Johnny Beard of Llandudno, the annual Dathlu Gaming Cymru event has brought in a total of £53,230 over the last five years.

The event brings together the cream of Welsh entertainment and gaming streamers for a weekend-long feast of fun that crosses St David’s Day.

Passion

Johnny shared: “It’s amazing that we have been able to turn our passion for gaming and highlighting Welsh talent into such a brilliant amount.

“It’s been an honour to support the work of this vital community resource and I’m so proud of everybody who gave their time and used their audiences to help raise money.

“This year alone we had 49 people sign-up and brought in over £8,000 to support local children and families.”

Visit

We invited Johnny down to Ty Gobaith on March 11th to see the new facilities which have been added thanks in part to his hard work and dedication.

“It was great to see directly where the money we raised has gone.

“Meeting some of the staff and children was an honour and an apt way to celebrate passing the £50,000 milestone,” he said.

Blown away

Andy Everley, Fundraising Manager for the hospices, commented: “Johnny has blown us away with his efforts in putting together the Dathlu Gaming Cymru weekend – it’s a lot of hard work.

“By using his contacts and influence he has spearheaded the provision real care, support and nursing for local children and families living with a life-threatening condition.

“We will be forever grateful to him as will so many others in the community.

“Thanks Johnny, you’re a star.”

Johnny’s efforts hadn’t gone unnoticed by local dignitaries as when visiting the hospice, he was handed a letter from Aberconwy MS, Janet Finch-Saunders thanking him for his efforts in raising money for a charity she has long backed.
