Two caring young friends spent part of their summer holidays raising money.

Isla, 12, and Darcie, 9, from Penrhyn Bay, live next door to each other and held two homemade lemonade stands outside their homes, raising a brilliant £125 for Tŷ Gobaith in Conwy.

The pair have lived opposite family friends Pete and Michelle Hughes for several years now and been friends with their daughter Matilda since she was born.

Matilda lives with some complex health conditions and attends the hospice for regular respite stays, allowing her parents a precious chance to relax and recharge knowing their daughter is in safe hands.

Speaking for the girls, Isla’s dad, Tom said: “I've known Pete and Michelle for a long time and work alongside Pete at Royal Mail.

“They’re a lovely family.

“The girls made their own traditional and pink lemonade to sell and held two stands on August 5th and 25th charging passers-by a pound per glass.

“They were both very hot days, but Matilda was able to come out and join them for a while.

“They raised £125 over the two days and we’re all very proud of them for wanting to help support their friend Matilda.”

Thank You

Tŷ Gobaith fundraiser, Sian Golding said: “I really love this. It’s such a nice thing that Darcie and Isla have done for their friend.

“I only wish I had got a glass of lemonade too!

“Every penny raised will make a real difference to Matilda’s family and many more across north Wales who we support.

“Thank you so much, girls.”
