Football fans, players and coaches all came together recently to remember a loved one and raise money for our hospices.

On Friday August 29th at Rhos United’s home ground, the match between parents and coaches of JW Football Coaching and Street Football Wales, raised a fantastic £520.

Organised by John Watkiss of JW Football Coaching as a tribute to his late sister, Laura, who had accessed care at the hospice, the game ended with a whopping 7-1 victory to the home side.

Memories

Speaking of the match, John said: “This was our first charity game and for a cause close to my family.

“A massive thank you from the bottom of my heart to every one of you.

“The most important thing was the money raised, and the moments created that will last long in the memory. At one point we had five dads on the pitch at the same time as their sons.”

Huge Thanks

Area Fundraiser for Tŷ Gobaith, Sian Golding shared: “I’m always so touched so when people reach out with fundraising in tribute to a loved one that we have assisted.

“The strong football community around Betws really showed their true colours in coming out to play and support John and his family in this match.

“Thanks so much to JW Football Coaching for all their efforts, and congratulations for getting on the scoresheet, John.”
