Tracey Williams, 61, from Denbigh cycled from Caernarfon to the famous castle in Cardiff in tribute to her late daughter, Sioned, who received much care and support at Tŷ Gobaith.

Sioned Williams

Sioned was born in 1997 with severe quadriplegic cerebral palsy after a very rare complication at birth.
She battled every day but passed away aged 7.

Tracey undertook the first half of the epic cycle with her niece Katie and partner Pete but went on to finish solo with support from her husband, Elfed.

After raising a brilliant £2,780 in sponsorship, Tracey said: “It was very hard but great fun.

“I was spurred on by the fundraising and thought about Sioned a lot during the journey.

“There were some big climbs and long days but always beautiful scenery.

“From Dolgellau to Machynlleth was the toughest section.”

Tracey completed the ride in four and a half days – even more impressive is that she had recently had a hip replacement.

Tŷ Gobaith fundraiser Sian Golding, said: “We really admire Tracey’s strength and are so grateful for all the funds she has raised over the years.

“A huge thank everybody who sponsored her for their kind contributions.

“Every penny raised will go directly to the care of local children and families who are living with a life-threatening condition.”
