Madcap bus challenge set to raise thousands A trio of siblings from Nantwich are setting out to prove that small is mighty for our hospices. Brothers Will, Andrew and James Emerton will be travelling a 1,000 mile route from the bottom to the top of the UK in a very special miniature bus and raising money for us. In their Land’s End to John O’Groats challenge, the trio will be piloting a 1948 Johnstones Midget bus, once used to ferry children up and down promenades of seaside resorts in the UK. With a 125cc petrol engine and capable of only around 12 MPH the trio certainly have set themselves a challenge. The boys continued: “We are keen bus restorers in our spare time and we have done all the restoration work ourselves. “Although the furthest we’ve been in it so far is about five miles! “We obviously won’t be able to go on the motorways, so the route is longer than normal and we hope to do it in about eight days. “We’ll set off from Cornwall on 11th April and hope to complete the journey in eight days.” Support Cheshire area fundraiser for the hospices, Claire Penney, said: “This is a truly unique and incredible challenge the Emerton boys are taking on. “It will be very testing, but we will be supporting them every mile of the way and following their progress. “We are so grateful the family have thought of us in their centenary fundraising and every penny will go directly to supporting the 750 local children and families we support who are living with a life-threatening condition. “Thank you so much.” Donte here All money will be split between Hope House Tŷ Gobaith, The Children’s Society and the MPS Society.
