Inspired by his recent visit to Hope House, Dave is preparing for his biggest challenge yet.

Dave Rimington, a father of two from Pantymwyn will be taking on the 100 mile Cheshire Ring race on Saturday September 27th.

An Enlightening Visit

“Visiting Hope House resonated with me massively.

“It will stick with me forever and drove home how important their services are in the community.

“It’s such a warm caring environment and you can easily see why the families value it so much.” said Dave.

The race has a 30hr time limit and sets off around the Cheshire Canal from Salford Quays, Manchester.

By day, Dave is the Plant Manager at What’s Cooking? in Deeside who manufacture and supply premium ready meals to trade and supermarkets and has fundraised for Hope House before.

What’s Cooking? employ over 450 people at their HQ and have been proud supporters of Hope House for many years.

In 2024, Dave took on a gruelling 36hr trail run in Plymouth and raised a fantastic £3,410.

His previous experiences have taught him that endurance events are as much psychological as they are physical.

Pushing Through Without Sleep

“For me it’s about 50/50. You get big dips but learn to work past them.

“I’m planning to push through this one without any sleep,” he said.

Dave will be fuelling his efforts with lots of porridge, macaroons and pretzels plus thoughts of his chosen cause.

“It’s quite a flat and fast course and we’ll be using head torches during the night.

“Going to Hope House in person hit me quite hard, I’ll never forget it.

“It was magical to see the smiles on the faces of the children when we gave them some small gifts.

“I hope my friends and colleagues can dig deep and raise as much money as possible for this wonderful cause,” said Dave.

Hospice fundraiser Nicola Eyes is supporting Dave in his efforts and said: “Dave and the What’s Cooking family are brilliant supporters of ours, we’re so grateful to have them on board.

“Their family ethos sits alongside ours and this makes for a great partnership.

“We wish Dave lots of luck in this epic race and hope he enjoys the experience.

“Everything he raises will help us on our mission to reach every child and family locally who are living with a life-threatening condition.”
