Life is a lot more comfortable for a Cheshire couple who recently won our £1,000 lottery jackpot – they celebrated by buying a new mattress with their winnings.

Andrew and Annie Thomson have been playing our lottery for 10 years now and have had two lucky wins.

The couple discovered the hospices when they first moved to the area, as Andrew shared: “We were having a clear out and took bags of donations to the charity’s Nantwich shop.

“It was very well regarded in the community and a volunteer in the shop told us about the lottery.

“We’ve been fortunate to have two wins now. A smaller one several years ago and in late August this year, a £1,000.”

Andrew recalls the good news coming via a phone call: “It felt fantastic, I was delighted to take that call.

“We had just ordered a new mattress for our bed, just like the ones used in a popular hotel chain. So, we decided to use the win to cover the cost of that.”
