Eleanor’s Crafty Pens Making a Difference Amazing Eleanor has been raising money to support children like her brother Oscar by making and selling a range of fabulous hand-crafted pens with funky toppers. Oscar was born with two complex brain conditions and is cared for at Hope House. To give something back for all the care and support her family have received, and to help other children with life-threatening conditions to live their best life, creative 10-year-old Eleanor decided she wanted to do something a bit different. Eleanor pictured at our Chester store with her pens “We have been getting kits online and being creative together to help other families like ours,” she said. “We have made about 500 so far. The Lilo & Stitch ones were very popular.” Eleanor has been making the pens since September and her mum Charlotte has been helping to sell them on TikTok and Facebook, with them proving a real hit and raising more than £200. Staff at Hope House have bought some to brighten up their offices and they are also now available on the counter at our shop in Chester on Frodsham Street. Oscar and his family have been cared for and supported at Hope House since January this year after meeting one of our community nurses, and the family were recently guests of honour at the grand opening of our Chester revamped store, helping to cut the ribbon. Oscar and Eleanor’s mum Charlotte said: “Our family support worker at Hope House Claire is amazing and everybody at the hospice are like family. “We’re very proud of Eleanor for helping to raise money.” Our fundraiser Claire Penney said: “We absolutely love Eleanor’s pens - each one is so unique, and the designs are bright and beautifully made. “It’s heart-warming to see families come together to raise money and support other local children living with life-threatening conditions. “We’re so grateful to Eleanor and her whole family for being so thoughtful.” You can get your pens from the Hope House shop in Chester or email [email protected].
