Skydive Celebration As Emelia Turns 13 Lisa Jones was unsure if she’d ever see her daughter become a teenager. But now she is set to take a leap of faith as her “hero” turns 13. Lisa, 47, along with her eldest daughter, Cherie, 27, will be leaping out of an aeroplane from 13,000ft to raise money for our hospices who have helped the family care of their youngest, Emelia. Born with Turner’s Syndrome and facing severe global developmental delay, along with heart and bowel surgeries, feeding issues requiring her to be tube fed and with both physical and mental disabilities, Emelia’s journey has been anything but easy. Cherie, Emelia and Lisa Jones get ready for their skydive Milestone Lisa said: “There have been many moments we weren’t sure we’d see this milestone - times that tested every part of us as a family. “But somehow, through it all, Emelia’s smile, her spirit, and her strength have shone through and kept us strong! “She is, quite simply, our hero.” Of the hospice and the care they have provided over the years, Lisa said: “Tŷ Gobaith has been a lifeline for our family, offering vital respite care when we needed it most. “Their compassion, expertise, and support have helped us through some of our darkest days and given us room to breathe, regroup, and carry on with love and strength. “Emelia is a happy, brave, determined girl who takes everything in her stride. “To celebrate this beautiful milestone of Emelia’s 13th birthday, Cherie and I have decided to do something completely out of our comfort zones: a tandem skydive!” Emelia Jones who has enjoyed 12 years of respite stays at Tŷ Gobaith Respite Emelia has been attending the hospice since she was 10 months old and had her her first birthday their where staff held her a special party. Counselling and sibling support provided by Tŷ Gobaith has also been of great benefit to the Jones’ over the years. “The respite care Emelia receives allows me to do more activities with my son, like riding his bike and going camping – things we can’t do with Emilia’s wheelchair and feeding requirements,” Lisa Jane continued. Looking ahead to the skydive Lisa Jane said: “I’m both nervous and excited. It’s getting a lot more real now though and I’m realising I’m actually going to have to jump out of a plane!” The professional care and respite Emelia has received has enabled her mother to do more with her other children Best Life Fundraising Development Lead for Hope House Tŷ Gobaith Bekki Fardoe, who is supporting Lisa and Cherie said: “Emelia and the Joneses are testament to the work we do in enabling families to live their best life by providing professional care and support from the point of diagnosis. “They are being very brave by taking part in our skydive this summer.
