A hospice family from Anglesey will abseil down the island’s famous column.

Emily Williams, 16, along with dad Paul and mum Lucy will be taking on the challenge to support Tŷ Gobaith where their son, Thomas receives respite care.

Just days after he was born, Thomas, 14, was diagnosed with a brain condition that has meant he has needed round the clock care and to be fully supported in life from his wheelchair.

Since he was two years old, the Williams family have been accessing regular respite care stays for Thomas with us.

Big Day

On Saturday May 17th, at the Marquess of Anglesey tower, Llanfairpwll, up to 80 brave souls will be harnessed in and take the plunge down the 89ft tower to raise money for the hospice.

Emily said: “I’m happy to be raising money for a great charity like Tŷ Gobaith.

“They’ve always been amazing with my brother but since representing them in the Welsh Youth Parliament, my eyes have really been opened as to the sheer amount they really do.

“My family get so much support from them like Thomas’ respite care, counselling, and youth activities when I was younger, so to be able to pay them back for that is special."

Places

Tŷ Gobaith fundraiser Nikki Jones is leading the event and said: “It’s so inspirational when families we assist with care step forward to take on a challenge like this.

“It really highlights the work we do in assisting families to live their best possible lives and how we can help build precious memories in the time they have together.

“Good luck Emily, Paul and Lucy, we all hope you have a great time.”

It’s only £30 to join the day and all entrants to the abseil will get a free bespoke t-shirt.

There are still a few remaining places for the event.
