The sun came out for 18 holes of fun and fundraising on Wednesday September 24th.

Hosted at the Portal Hotel & Spa golf Championship course in Tarporley, and kindly sponsored by Recycling UK, our Cheshire Golf Day was a roaring success and raised a brilliant £13,250.

A total of 21 teams of four enjoyed a shotgun start on the beautiful course and were challenged to a "nearest the pin" and “beat the pro” on the 14th hole. Ian Greenhough was the winner of nearest the pin. The Longest Drive went to Dave Richards.

After a keen afternoon’s competition, Hotpoint Golf Society from North Wales had the lowest score and were crowned winners, with Oliver Keegan the Individual Winner.

Proud Headline Sponsors

Neil Clarke, Managing Director of Recycling UK said: “What a brilliant golf day we had at Portal Championship golf course last week which was organised by Claire Penney of Hope House/Ty Gobaith Children’s Hospices.

“The whole event was really well-organised starting with a breakfast bap, 18 holes of golf and culminating with an evening meal and awards presentation.

“The whole event went very well, and we were proud to be headline sponsors.

At the evening reception, players were treated to a two-course meal and there was a prize draw and auction."

Thank You

Claire, shared: “This is an incredible total raised for the hospices, and we really couldn’t have done it without the strong support of Neil and the team from RUK.

“We were blessed with great weather which helped make the day, but the real stars were the kind teams who took part and dug deep to help local children and families living with a life-threatening illness.

“Cheshire’s golfing and business communities really are so community-minded and generous.

“Thanks so much again to Recycling UK.”
