Thousands of fitness fans will flock to Colwyn Bay over the weekend of August 9th and 10th to help raise money for our hospices.

The sold-out Hybrid X event is a multi-discipline fitness race staged at The Barn in Eirias Park and will see competitors run, row, push, pull and jump to beat their personal best.

Caring organisers Rob King and Jack Kelbrick have this year decided to donate profits from the Sunday’s Junior Day to help us provide free care, respite stays and support to children and families who are living with a life-threatening condition.

Close To Our Hearts

Speaking for Hybrid X, co-founder Jack Kelbrick said: “Rob and I both live in the area and have young families, so it was close to our hearts.

“We felt it was very important to choose a local charity that does so much for the community and help give them some exposure through our event.

“It’s something very special when you see the kids with signs and banners shouting and cheering for their mum or dad or Nan or Grandad.

“You don’t get that with things like football or rugby, you don’t see that anywhere as much as you from a fitness event like this.

“We have people of all ages and abilities and that’s something that can’t be replicated.

“We’re very proud to work with Tŷ Gobaith and also support as many local business as we can with partnerships.”

Bringing The Community Together

Competitors enjoy the race

The guys have built their brand from scratch and had a shared ambition from the start.

Rob explained their ethos: “Hybrid X was born out of a dream to bring the community together, and that’s what we do.

“We bring the support and the confidence for those who think they might not be able to do the workout.

“What that does is create one big community and North Wales is the fittest it’s ever been.”

The gruelling event works in waves and people of all fitness levels are started at appropriate times so there’s no congestion getting around the stations and combined with pumping music makes for an exhilarating atmosphere.

This will be the fifth Hybrid X event and sold out so fast they had to add extra spaces and time slots, especially the juniors on Sunday.

Shared Values

Tŷ Gobaith fundraiser Sian Golding, said: “Hybrid X has created such a buzz in the area, but community and mutual support are at their heart – much as it is with Tŷ Gobaith.

“We share our values with them and enable families and children living with a life-threatening condition to live their best lives with professional nursing care, respite, play and support.

“We’re so grateful to Rob and Jack for partnering with us and it’s extra special they have chosen the children’s event.”
