A Cheshire man has saddled up for an epic fundraising challenge.

On Sunday May 18th, Ian Johnston from Nantwich began cycling over 1,000 miles from Land’s End to John O Groats for our hospices.

Ian, a 62 year-old Operations Director, said: “A family friend of mine has had support from the hospices and I wanted to raise some money to support a great local charity.

“I have done a number of events over the years like triathlons, so when I heard of this challenge to ride the length of the country, I added it to my bucket list and very quickly entered it.”

Days in the saddle will range from 60 to 87miles and cover 55,000ft of elevation gain which will certainly test the legs.

The group event takes place over 14 days and Ian continued: “I have to say I am very much looking forward to it.

“All being well, we’ll arrive at John O Groats on Saturday 31st but day 8 of Carnforth to Gretna will be the most challenging.

“I’m very much looking forward to the adventure and meeting like-minded fundraising cyclists also taking on the challenge.”
