Sponsor The Team Sign Up For 2026 Trek Day One: Arrival in Marrakech – Transfer to Imlil and Settle In Our adventure began with a warm welcome in Marrakech, followed by a scenic transfer to Imlil. We were able to have a quick stop on the way for a photo opportunity where we could see the atlas mountains and Mount Toubkal in the distance. A nice reminder of why were here and what we were about to take on. On arrival at our guest house we met our guides and had our first taste of the Moroccan cuisine as we were treated to a delicious salad, tagine and their famous mint tea! This was shortly followed by kit check and briefing. After, taking some time to enjoy the views, we walked into the village and was very kindly invited for coffee by a fellow guide. After getting a feel for the area and culture we settled in for the night, raring to go for our first day of walking! π Accommodation: Riad Guest House, Imlil Day Two: Imlil to Tamsoult Refuge – The Trek Begins We started the day with a solid breakfast and plenty of coffee — much needed after yesterday’s early start. After a final kit check and briefing, we set off from Imlil towards the Tizi Mzik Pass (2,489m). The climb was tough in the heat, but the views at the top were worth it. We even got to enjoy a fresh glass of orange juice from a Berber vendor by a waterfall – reached by a very wobbly bridge! From the pass, we descended into the stunning Azaden Valley, passing through terraced hillsides and remote villages. We stopped for lunch on the mountainside — pasta, salad, and a tasty tagine — before tackling the final stretch up to the Tamsoult Refuge. It was a steep finish, but spotting the refuge in the distance gave us a real boost. On arrival, we were welcomed with tea, popcorn, and biscuits, and had time to relax on the sun terrace. We also got our first taste of the “climb high, sleep low” principle to help us acclimatise. After a filling dinner, we headed to bed early — tomorrow’s a big one: 12 hours of trekking starting at 5am! πΊοΈ Distance: 10km | π Time: 6 hoursπ Start Height: 1,740m | Max Height: 2,489m | End Height: 2,250mπ Accommodation: Tamsoult Refuge Day Three: Tamsoult Refuge to Mouflons via Aglzim Pass - Into the High Atlas We started early with a 5am breakfast on what was was a windy and overcast day. Layered up appropriately we made it to our first stop, a gorgeous waterfall which was made even more spectacular by the recent snowfall with lots of water gushing through. In the distance we could see the famous 99 Zig Zags which was our next ascent. However, we weren't finished there and continued to Aglzim. From here we could see the mighty Toubkal Pyramid. Some of us took the opportunity to tick off another peak - Aglzim North which stands at 3650m. From here we descended to refuge number two where we will stay for 3 nights. On arrival, again we had fresh tea and popcorn and a few hours rest before tea. Tomorrow's walk is a shorter day and we are all looking forward to a later start! The experience so far has been challenging but very rewarding. πΊοΈ Distance: 14km | π Time: 10 hoursπ Start Height: 2,250m | Max Height: 3,650m | End Height: 3,207mπ Accommodation: Mouflons Refuge Day Four: Acclimatisation Walk to Tizi Ouanoums – Rest and Ready Today was all about stretching the legs and adjusting to the altitude ahead of tomorrow’s big summit. After catching up on some much needed sleep,we enjoyed a delicious breakfast (pancakes, eggs, bread, and strong coffee!), we set off on a steady climb up to Tizi Ouanoums (3,680m). We took our time, soaking up the incredible views from the saddle before making our way back down to Mouflons Refuge, arriving around 2pm. After lunch and a summit-day briefing, we had the afternoon to rest, re-pack, and prepare. Some of the group took the opportunity to create some life time memories and took a dip in the nearby waterfall, whilst the rest of us braved the showers! Spirits are high and we’re feeling ready and excited for the Toubkal summit tomorrow! πΊοΈ Distance: 6km | π Time: 5 hoursπ Start/End Height: 3,207m | Max Height: 3,680mπ Accommodation: Mouflons Refuge Day Five: Toubkal Summit – 4,167m, Roof of North Africa We did it!! Summit day! We were up well before sunrise, fuelled by a hearty breakfast and a final gear check before setting off in the dark. Our route took us up the South Cwm, the most popular ascent line, with the path winding steadily through steep scree slopes. Thanks to the previous days of acclimatisation, we pushed through the climb to reach Tizi n'Toubkal (3,940m), then followed the ridge to the summit itself - Mount Toubkal, at 4,167m, the highest peak in North Africa. At the top, we were greeted by the iconic iron pyramid and breathtaking views stretching across the entire Atlas range - an unforgettable moment and a true high point of the journey. πΊοΈ Distance: 10km | π Time: 10 hoursπ Start Height: 3,207m | Max Height: 4,167m | End Height: 3,207mπ Accommodation: Mouflons Refuge Day Six: Descent to Imlil via Sidi Chamharouch – Back to Marrakech After breakfast at Mouflons Refuge, we began our long, steady descent back down the valley toward Imlil. The path took us past the sacred village of Sidi Chamharouch, with plenty of time to take in the views, reflect on our Toubkal summit, and stop for another glass of freshly squeezed orange juice at one of the charming rest stops. We paused for a well-earned lunch by the river in Aroumd or back at our guesthouse in Imlil—depending on the pace of the day—before transferring back to Marrakech (around 1.5 hours). In the evening, we celebrated with a final team dinner, enjoying delicious Moroccan cuisine and sharing stories from an unforgettable adventure in the High Atlas Mountains. πΊοΈ Distance: 12km | π Time: 6 hoursπ Start Height: 3,207m | End Height: 1,740mπ Accommodation: Hotel in Marrakech Manage Cookie Preferences
