Five friends are putting their best feet forward to raise vital funds for local children with life-threatening conditions.

Amy, Ffion, Crystal, Rhona and Sarah, are all old school friends from the Denbigh area and are running the Oswestry 10k on October 12th in memory of Finley Edwards, Sarah’s son who was cared for at Tŷ Gobaith in the Conwy Valley.

Finley had battled Leukaemia and was only five years old when he died in October 2020.

A Massive Challenge

Speaking of their challenge, Amy Harper, 37, who now lives in Higher Kinnerton, shared: “We’re a group of non-runners, so this will be a massive challenge for us all.

“We’re doing this in memory of one incredible little boy, Finley who passed away five years ago in October.

“We started training individually around January.

“Finley’s memory has been an inspiration on the days when we didn’t feel like getting out there and has driven us on.

“Tŷ Gobaith provided so much support to Finley and his family.

“He would have been 10 years old this year and we want to raise money for this amazing charity in his memory and to celebrate this amazing little boy.”

The ladies will have a good crowd of friends and family there on the day to cheer them.

Amy said: “We’re not putting too much pressure on ourselves and just hope to make it round the course together.”

Thank You

Fundraiser, Vicky Bradbeer said: “Oswestry 10k is a very challenging race but always a lovely friendly atmosphere and passes Hope House en-route.

“We’re so grateful to the girls for choosing to run in Finley’s memory and raise much-needed funds for local children and families living with a life-threatening condition.

“Good luck and we’ll be with you every step of the way.”
