David cooks up £3,410 with epic 100 mile run A Deeside-based company have raised well over £3,000 for our hospices. Generous staff at What’s Cooking on the industrial estate got behind Plant Manager David Rimington when he took on a 36hr trail run challenge down in Plymouth. Competing in the Hope Trail Festival, David completed an impressive 100 miles in under the allotted time. David Rimington, Plant Manager of What’s Cooking, Deeside ran 100 miles. Pictured with the HR team who helped organise the company’s fundraising Wonderful charity He said: “I lost a few toenails along the way, but it’s nothing when doing it for such a wonderful charity. “I hit the wall after about 24hrs and decided to get a pizza and had a couple of hours sleep before carrying on. “It was pitch black by 10.30pm and the ground was very sodden and cut up from other runners.” David had previously never done any more than 59 miles in a single race. Speaking on behalf of the company, he said: “As a company we’re proud to continue supporting Hope House Tŷ Gobaith as they sit with our family ethos and means a lot to a lot of people. “I would like to thank all the kind staff for their donations and together with a company donation we’re thrilled to have raised £3,410 which is amazing as our original target was just £500.” David displays his medal and his special 100+ mile buckle So grateful What’s Cooking employ 453 people at their Deeside plant and have supported Hope House Tŷ Gobaith several times over the years.
